About this tool

This tool re-encodes your JPG as WebP directly in the browser using the canvas API. Note that WebP export isn't supported by every browser — notably, Safari cannot generate WebP output from canvas, so this tool will tell you if that's the case rather than silently failing.

Why isn't the WebP option working for me?
Safari cannot export WebP images from canvas. If you're on Safari, switch to Chrome, Edge or Firefox to use this tool — reading WebP works everywhere, but writing it doesn't yet on Safari.
Is WebP better than JPG?
For most website use cases, yes — WebP typically achieves smaller file sizes at comparable visual quality, which helps page load speed.
Will all my other tools support WebP?
