Frequently asked questions
Will compressing reduce image quality?
Some quality is traded for a smaller file, but at moderate settings the difference is very hard to spot at normal viewing sizes. Use the quality slider to find the balance that works for you — higher keeps more detail, lower produces a smaller file.
What's the maximum file size I can compress?
Since compression happens in your browser rather than on a server, there's no hard upload limit — very large images are only limited by your device's available memory.
Does this work on PNG images with transparency?
Yes. PNG output keeps its transparency; if you convert to JPG elsewhere, transparent areas will be filled with white since JPG doesn't support transparency.
Can I compress several images at once?
